Die Jury schreibt:
“Unmittelbar springt das Cover ins Auge und fordert dieses gleich durch die flirrende Op-Art-Optik heraus. Genauso unmittelbar taucht man in das grafische Kunstwerk ein, blättert man die erste Seite auf … und ist überrascht ob des schnellen Wechsels von der starken, kräftigen, nahezu anstrengenden Präsenz der Covergestaltung zu dem feinen Strich, der im Inneren den Ton angibt.
Man gleitet durch und über die komplett gefüllten, randlosen Seiten. Den Zeichnungen wird der gesamte Raum überlassen – es gibt keinen Text, keine Seitenzahlen, keinen Rand. Die grafischen Elemente können sich voll entfalten, ohne Ablenkungen.
Manche Bilder wirken wie herangezoomt, Ränder scheinen abgeschnitten. Dadurch wird der Eindruck verstärkt, sich mitten in der Szene zu befinden. Ein visueller Sog entwickelt sich durch die Entscheidung, die volle Fläche für die grafische Gestaltung zu verwenden, kombiniert mit dem Zeichenstil: Verdichtete Linien erzeugen Plastizität und Pointillismus, subtile Farbeffekte in schwarz -weiß entführen in eine fragmentarische Reise durch vier Jahreszeiten. Phänomene wie Hitze, Kälte, Wind, Glück, Verlust, Begehren, Armut und Reichtum eröffnen sich allein aus der Bildfolge.
In der Gestaltung hat man sich für eine Typografie entschieden, die an Zeitungen und andere Ephemera erinnert. Eine konzeptuelle Kongruenz offenbart sich somit in der Form, die im Alltäglichen verankert ist und den dargestellten Alltagsszenen.”

It’s a Book – Money Low, Funny Though ist eine unabhängige Buchmesse mit Symposium, die am 21. März 2026 an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig (HGB) stattfindet. Rund 80 unabhängige Verlage und Publikationsprojekte präsentieren Bücher, Magazine, Zines und Editionen und geben Einblicke in aktuelle Praktiken des unabhängigen Publizierens.

Das begleitende Symposium widmet sich der Frage nach der Bedeutung von Unabhängigkeit heute. Es sprechen Ulla Heinrich, Tom Lamberty, Anh-Linh Ngo, Winnes Rademächers, Mark Reeder und Martin Schmitz.

Showcase, readings, food & a new publication by Astrid Wagner

At CITTIPUNKT e.V. we will be presenting and celebrating our first publications on a Sunday afternoon. The publication DER AUFZUG will be released, featuring a short story by Astrid Wagner. Laura Hinrichsmeyer will read poems from her artist's book Werk-Angaben, published in October – accompanied by food from PANINI BAR.

DER AUFZUG is the first issue of "Astrid Wagner's Underground Lair" – a series of short stories published as small zines. In this lyrical parable, the protagonist moves outside her comfort zone: "Ich erinnerte / mich an / ihr Foto / das ich / bei Psy-Online / gesehen hatte."

Astrid Wagner is interested in the relationships between art, origin/class, gender and performative aspects of architecture. In her work, she questions the boundaries and transitions between art and mainstream culture in spatial settings. Her artistic practice encompasses installation, scenography, sculpture, painting and text. She lives and works in Vienna.

Book release & reading of Werk-Angaben by Laura Hinrichsmeyer

We first encountered Laura Hinrichsmeyer’s writing at Schleuse in 2021 and again through her reading of Werk-Angaben for dis/claim magazine at Laurenz in 2023. Her work aligns with our interest in questioning conventions. We are more than happy that Werk-Angaben has become the first book we are publishing: a freshly edited and designed artist’s book with 74 genre-bending poems, screen-printed in an edition of 50 copies.

The screen print Marcia is based on Katharina Schilling’s painting of the same name (oil on wood, 35 × 14.7 cm). The painting abstracts an illustration from a 15th-century manuscript of Giovanni Boccaccio's De Mulieribus Claris (On Famous Women), depicting an ancient Roman artist named Marcia. The illustration, created around 1404, shows Marcia at an easel with a mirror reflecting her face, creating a “triple portrait.” It is the first known depiction of an artist, male or female, painting themselves. Katharina Schilling’s composition declares a fragment of this scene, the pixel-like geometric pattern of the floor, to be the motif of the image.

Hear DINGE See SACHEN Say ZEUG is the exhibition poster for the eponymous exhibition by Viennese artist Christian Egger at 20 20. The title is a combination of “Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing” (1982), the debut album by the English hardcore band Discharge, and the song “Dinge Sachen Zeug” (2016) by the German band Hammerhead. The poster, announcing the exhibition, is mounted in a wall brochure holder in the exhibition space and integrated into the display as an artwork.
